Traditional Generation

People rely on generation infrastructure to power their homes. Long-term corrosion protection from HDG helps to increase resiliency and reliability.

Over the past decade, the US has worked to generate more energy from clean and/or renewable sources. This has led to a reduced reliance on coal power (down 25% from 2010) which was redistributed into a combination of nuclear, natural gas, and renewable sources.

As the nation strives to convert more generation from renewable sources, currently we still rely heavily on energy from fossil fuels such as coal and natural gas. It is imperative to maintain traditional generation facilities and work to improve their sustainability wherever possible.

Hot-dip galvanized (HDG) steel is a solid choice for protecting steel structures within and around generation facilities. With a time to first maintenance of 75 years in most environments, HDG ensures steel in any power generation application will be properly protected from corrosion and be able to operate maintenance-free at full capacity for the intended project life.

With the growing interest and need for sustainable development, energy generation will continue to be an important investment for future generations and their quality of life; therefore, protecting those investments from degradation now will benefit owners and users alike for years to come.

    HDG Performance in Chemical Solutions

A primary factor governing galvanized coating corrosion behavior in liquid chemical environments is the solution's pH. Galvanizing performs well in solutions of pH above 4.0 and below 12.5.
