Broadband
As technology advances and dependency on it grows, broadband being built now needs to last for generations using galvanized steel's proven durability.
The COVID pandemic forced a number of changes on our lifestyles, and perhaps most notably, it led to millions of Americans working or going to school from home. This highlighted the challenges the US faces in access to reliable, high speed internet service. Nearly 30 million Americans live in areas where internet service speeds do not meet the FCC’s definition of broadband including 1 in 5 school aged children. In addition to poor coverage or speed, the United States has the second highest broadband costs compared to 35 other developed nations.
Investing $65 billion into the expansion of broadband towers and signals is a generational opportunity to ensure stable access to the internet to all Americans. Considering how much of our daily lives rely on connected access, it is critical to build this infrastructure to last. Whether adding to existing poles, building new ones, or utilizing temporary mobile solutions – hot-dip galvanized steel provides durability and long-term corrosion protection.
